As a therapist my initial focus in our first session is to create a safe and open space for you to build trust in me, and the therapeutic process. Utilising a broad range of skills, research and evidence based learning, and many years of experience in children and family focussed careers, my approach to what you bring to therapy is compassion focussed, trauma informed and neurotype affirming. I am a ND practitioner and specialise in working with all relationship dynamics, including the ones we have with ourselves, especially where neurodivergence is part of the challenges you're facing. I understand that bringing relationships is conflict or disconnect is hard work, I have done it too, please know that you won't be judged for anything you bring. I always work with individuals; the relationship we have with ourselves is the one we take into all the others so we put our own oxygen mask on first in many situations.

I often work outside because movement allows us to process our world in a different way and is great for those folx that prefer less face to face contact or simply enjoy it. I am a trained eco therapist and supervisor fully insured for this work. My love of the water and coast extends into my daily life where I volunteer for HM Coastguard as a Search & Rescue Office. Whilst this does not cross over into my working hours it is a part of my life I share because it is a visible role here. I am a parent to four young adults who all love the outdoors and have created spaces within it for leisure and work. You will find me and Sandy at one of our amazing beaches at least once a day, most often twice, where we walk with the systems of our planet that hold the most power and strength on earth. These elemental themes come into my work as an eco therapist and therapeutic strategies are built around these sensory relationships in the office also.
I am a trained EMDR therapist and hold sessions purely for EMDR work as well as incorporating it into ongoing therapeutic relationships. This is a powerful tool for moving past challenging feelings around past events that disrupt your present life.

My therapy dog, Sandy, is with me most days and uses simple gestures to connect to you and your emotions. She is a gentle, young Labrador Retriever and will happily mooch away to her chair if you don't wish to engage with her. She is also overjoyed when interaction and relationship with her is sought out!
Sandy started her life training to be a guide dog and, happily for me, did not go on to the next stage and instead came to live in Fife. She has predictable behaviours and is calm and quiet with the softest ears in the world. she will leave you with some of her soft hair as a reminder of her presence and all in person sessions come with a free lint roller!

Thanks for taking the time to get to know me here, please use my contact page if you feel I might be the therapist for you and we can arrange a 15 minute complementary introductory session via Zoom where you can meet me and get a sense of who I am in person. The vibe is most definitely important to assess when choosing a therapist and I'm as happy to be discounted as I am chosen if I am not for you.
Go gently.
